It was a big night for Plaza. “It’s so amazing to know that so many people watched our work,” she says of The White Lotus. “It’s every actor’s dream, and I am so proud to be a part of this cast. Such a talented group of people.” Reflecting on her divisive character, Harper, Plaza says her favorite part about the role was navigating her complex relationship with Ethan (Will Sharpe). “I loved how smart Harper is and how protective she was over Ethan. She was not afraid to be herself in any situation, and I admire that about her.” The same could be said about Plaza herself and her approach to the red carpet. “I [always] want to feel like an elevated version of myself,” she says. “I like to feel sexy, comfortable, and true to myself as much as I can.” For the SAG Awards, Plaza continued this energy. The star says she wanted to channel a “screen siren” with her look, and her shimmery bronze Michael Kors Collection custom dress—complete with a crisscross neckline and cutout exposing the abdomen—was the perfect piece to do so, embodying a dash of Studio 54 energy. “We were trying to encapsulate a modern ’70s vibe,” says Plaza. “I loved the beautiful brown color of the dress and the sexy cutouts. It felt sexy but not overdone. Glamorous and chic.” She accessorized with Mouawad jewelry valued at more than $1.2 million.
Redmayne kept it sleek on the bottom with high-waisted black dress pants, but up top, he wore a crisp white dress shirt with a wrap-tied bow at the neckline. It added a dash of theatricality to the look, though the rest of the outfit was kept rightfully pared-back. There was no belt, no ornate jewelry: the necktie was the focal point. Even his choice of shoes was fresh, too. He wore not your standard lace-up oxfords, rather a pair of patent pointy-toe heels.
