Arm sleeves are not a required accessory by any means, but a pair of reasonable quality can provide marginally better thermal comfort (plus they look sort of cool, which may be the reason others wear it). Sure, but it depends. Yesterday I saw young women wearing scrubs with short sleeves. Because it was chilly outside she also wore a long sleeve t-shirt underneath and it looked fine. I don’t think there is a right or wrong answer to this question, it is more of a personal preference. I know that I personally like to wear half-sleeve shirts over full-sleeve t-shirts because I feel like it is more flattering on my arms. There is no one answer to this question, as people’s personal styles can vary greatly. However, in general, people tend to roll up their sleeves when they want to show off their muscles or their tattoos. Additionally, rolling up sleeves can help to keep you cool in warm weather.
I can’t speak for all men, but I know that not all men wear long sleeve shirts with the cuffs rolled up. I personally think that it looks stylish and handsome when a man does roll up his sleeves, but it’s certainly not a requirement. Most women I know prefer to wear short sleeve T-shirts! I think they are more comfortable and easy to style. You can dress them up or down and they always look cute. I thought arm sleeves were just hype until I tried them (and I have zero patience for superfluous products which attempt to turn running into an expensive sport). I find that a good pair of arm sleeves keeps me warmer at the start of a slightly-cold-day run than a long sleeved T-shirt, but also does not make me overheat as the run progresses (I guess that extra ventilation through the armpit really helps). I have rarely had to remove them (even though that is part of their functionality) on account of getting too hot. Also, I sometimes wear them under long-sleeved shirts, for those in-between days where it is almost cold enough for two long-sleeved shirts.
Assuming you want a professional look, I would suggest a white button up shirt with a long sleeve. The long sleeve will cover your tattoo and the white color will help keep the shirt from being too see-through. The rolled-up sleeves generally end up tighter than the sleeves on a short-sleeved shirt. For men with lanky arms, like me, that helps make it look like our arms fill out the sleeves more. It also lets us adjust the length of arm showing—often I like to show off my forearms or part of them, but no more. You can’t do that with a short-sleeved shirt. Finally, a lot of times I accidentally buy shirts whose sleeves are too short. I can only wear those with a layer on top (like a sweater) or with the sleeves rolled up, and the latter is much more pleasant in the sweltering Texas heat.
