Basketball was born in 1891 by Dr. James Naismith (1861-1936) – a physical education teacher created at the Springfield Academy in Massachusetts (USA).
At that time sports, motor games were mostly done outdoors. Therefore, during the winter the students were unable to practice or compete. The gym teachers are anxious, anxious and constantly searching and thinking to find a new game. Basketball was originally just a sports game for students in bad weather. Initially Naismith planned to build on American football – American Football and lacrosse but that idea was soon removed because he thought football America is too rough, and the other subject is mainly based on the ability of speed, not artistic.
